AMP Future2 Wheel Classic 2012
The AMP Future2 Wheel Classic (15-23 September) is a 1200 km, 9-day ride from Sydney to Melbourne, taking in Canberra and the regional centres of Bundanoon, Jindabyne, Corryong, Wangaratta, Shepparton, Bendigo and Castlemaine. It's the initiative of Peter Bobbin and Ray Griffin, two NSW-based trustees of Future2, the foundation of the Australian financial planning profession.
The ride has a $100,000 fundraising target and the money raised is to support community projects working to give a second chance and hope for a better future to disadvantaged young Australians. To date Future2 has made grants of over $200,000 to community organisations; their grant applications are supported by local financial planning professionals.
The third annual event of its kind, the AMP Future2 Wheel Classic is open to both individual cyclists and to teams of four. Earlybird registration rates apply until 30 April; registrations close on 31 July. On reaching specific fundraising targets, cyclists are eligible for full refund of their registration fee.
