Oval 650 Handlebar

Oval’s curiously named 650 handlebar is neither 650mm wide (it’s actually 711mm), nor designed for 650B riders (it’s aimed at 29er fans); and the intrigue doesn’t stop there. The nine-degree backsweep, zero-degree upsweep geometry is combined with a vertically offset clamping area so you can run it right-side-up for a 5mm rise or flip it for a 5mm drop. Run these with a flipped stem, and you could end up with handlebar height so low you’ll be able to harvest potatoes whilst you ride! This 7050 aluminium bar is wide enough to give you plenty of leverage when pushing big gears and big wheels, without smacking your knuckles on every tree you pass. The asking price is $70 and they weigh in at 270g. All that info and we still can’t figure out where the ‘650’ comes from…
