Hot Sands are the newest addition to Maui Jim’s sport sunglasses range. The brand comes out of Hawaii’s surf culture and its visually challenging coastal environment. As you’d expect with this heritage, glare reduction and colour enhancement are key research and development goals for the brand. The resulting vision through the optically correct lenses is very impressive in bright or low light. Styling is sophisticated and refined; the semi-rimless frame design makes a pleasant change from the aggressive, alien appearance of some sports sunglasses. Maui Jim claim their proprietary CLEARSHELL® coating provides scratch resistance on front and back of lens, while an oleophobic coating resists oil and water. The lenses are said to eliminate 99.9% of glare, and block 100% of UV rays.
