Glorious sunshine was flavour of the day at Round 5 of the Chocolate Foot Singletrack Mind Series at Mt Annan in south west Sydney. While we luuurve the great natural venues like Nowra and Wingello it’s pretty cool to rock up to a purpose designed facility like Mount Annan.
With wet weather looming all week, Round 4 of the SRAM Singletrack Mind Series was looking to be another washed-out event with the clouds disobeying the weather forecast and continuing to drop their cargo well into the night before the race. The rain finally stopped just hours before the start, and with the fast draining trails and a change of event centre the race was cleared to go ahead.
The weather forecast wasn't looking great for the Scott 24 2011, but a bit of inclement weather is not a deal breaker for most mountain bikers. Jason English, two time winner, certainly wasn’t deterred in his bid to win a third title.
For the third year in a row, current World 24 Hour Mountain Bike Champion Jason English, has won the JetBlack Western Sydney MTB 12 hour race. The 12 hour race was held at the exclusive MTB venue on Dargle Farm near Windsor west of Sydney.
SRAM Singletrack Mind Series Round 3 Stromlo Forest Park
After the devastating Canberra bush fires of 2003, the landscape of Stromlo Forest Park more closely resembled the surface of the Moon rather than that of a forest. Since the subsequent unveiling of the park in 2007 the trees have been growing faster than ever and the mountain bike trails are getting better by the day.
