Felt’s new Nexar aero bike is its lightest ever

Felt Bicycles has released the Nexar, the successor to its AR aero road bike. The Nexar features a fully integrated front end, updated frame geometry, and ‘revised’ carbon layups, along with a pretty lightweight 6.48kg weight, albeit in its top-tier FRD form.

What’s New

Felt reports that the bike is approximately 5% faster than the previous AR, and also says independent testing placing it within four watts of the fastest competitor bikes, a pretty bold claim.

Compared to the AR, the Nexar has slimmer tube profiles, smoother transitions between components, and a slightly higher stack with shorter reach to improve rider posture, while also integrating size-specific crank lengths for a more consistent fit across all frame sizes.

Weight

The top-tier FRD model in size 54 weighs 6.48 kg complete, with the frame itself weighing 800 g.

This is lighter than comparable AR builds, which generally weighed more and focused on aerodynamic efficiency rather than absolute low weight.

Felt says it achieved the weight reduction using ‘specific’ carbon layups, structural reinforcement in key areas, and a one-piece integrated carbon cockpit.

Other builds—including Pro, Expert, and Race—are slightly heavier to balance durability with performance.

Tyre clearance

The Nexar accommodates tyres up to 32 mm wide, compared to the AR, which typically had clearance for narrower tyres. Frame updates include revised rear triangle and seat stays to improve ride compliance.

The geometry also features a higher stack and shorter reach, and crank lengths are size-specific, ranging from 165 mm on XXS frames to 170 mm on L to XXL.

Felt says these updates aim to provide a more comfortable and efficient riding position compared to the AR’s geometry.

Options and Pricing

The Nexar will be available in Australia from the end of March 2026 through authorised dealers.

Four complete builds are offered along with an ‘FRD’ frameset. The FRD frameset alone is £4,069 ($7,739 AUD), while the full FRD build features Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 and a dual-sided 4iiii power meter. It’ll set you back an eye-watering £9,899 ($18,828 AUD).
Next up is the Pro variant, which uses Ultegra Di2 with a single-sided 4iiii power meter. It’s £7,013 ($13,339 AUD). It weighs 7.04kg.
You gain Ultegra Di2 with the Expert version. It’s £5,454 ($10,373 AUD) and weighs 7.53kg.
The Expert Race is the entry-level version of the Nexar. It comes equipped with 105 Di2 and the same wheels as the Expert. It retails for £4,675 ($8,893 AUD).
