US brand Specialized has launched the latest iteration of its popular Diverge gravel bike. The Diverge model first appeared in our bike shops about 10 years ago and has come a long way.
Like many new models, the Diverge 4 was first spotted at the Unbound event in May this year, Specialized has held off on the official launch until now.
Changes over its predecessor include increased tyre clearance, updated geometry, bigger storage and the latest Future Shock 3 suspension system.
Positioned between the stem and headtube, Future Shock 3.0 delivers 20mm of hydraulically damped travel, absorbing impacts without compromising weight, handling, or responsiveness. This system was first seen on Specialized’s endurance bike, the Roubaix.

This system is complemented by a new seatpost that deflects up to 18mm to make the bike more comfortable and stable.
The tyre clearance on gravel bikes continues to increase, and this new Diverge follows the trend by accommodating up to 50mm tyres, with 7mm clearance on all sides, or a 2.2-inch mountain bike tyre with 4mm of clearance.
The geometry has been tweaked to accommodate these chunky tyres, with a longer wheelbase and lower bottom bracket.
Prices start at $3,500 for the Diverge 4 Comp Alloy (aluminium frame) and go up to $15,900 for the Diverge 4 Pro LTD.
