Totally agree Peter. We spoke to some locals who expressed that the information leading up to the event, painted a very negative picture, and scared away locals. They were concerned that local food and drink venues, who had put on extra staff, bought extra food etc weren’t going to get the visitors they hoped for. Minimal mention on ABC that our very own Michael Mathews won silver. A missed opportunity to promote Wollongong and cycling in general .
