It’s not too late to find the ideal Christmas present for the cyclist in your life. Here are our top picks:

Voucher from their favourite bike shop
Supporting local small businesses is always good, and bike shops need your support. By buying a voucher from their favourite local bike shop, they can select something they really want, like a new bike (or at least the deposit), new shoes, a helmet or this summer’s most fashionable kit.

Cycling e-book
It might be too late to find a book shop with that perfect cycling book, but it’s not too late to buy an e-book like this Lonely Planet title ‘Epic Bike Rides of the World’.

Make a donation
Donate to a cycling-related charity in their name. One of our favourite bike-related charities is World Bicycle Relief, which supplies much-needed bikes to people in developing countries.

Entry into an event
An event entry provides your favourite roadie with an awesome year-long goal. Sign them up for the Mudgee Classic on Sunday, 4 May 2025, or there are plenty of other mass participation rides around Australia to choose from.

Zwift membership
If he or she is keen on riding indoors on a smart trainer, then a subscription to online training Zwift which has a monthly fee is a great idea. Why not prepay for 12 months to encourage them to start 2026 with some ambitious training goals?
Nicola Rutzou – a long-time contributor and, most recently, the editor of Bicycling Australia. Nicola is a keen Sydney-based road cyclist who writes reviews, news, and destination pieces, as well as the weekly e-newsletter for BA online.
