The Tour can be stunning. It can be brutal. It can be entertaining. It can be despondent.
The middle stages of this year’s Tour, which took us from the ‘pink city’ of Toulouse to the medieval town of Carcassonne, have been all of them. Although the two cities are not far apart, the peloton took the long way via some of the most epic climbs in the Pyrenees.
Included along the way was the brutal 10.9km uphill individual time trial that finished on the Peyragudes. Luke Plapp was the best placed Aussie in fifth, behind some of the world’s best time trialists.
The Aussie rider count is still at nine with all our rides playing their roles admirably. At the time of writing, Jayco-AlUla’s leader Ben O’Connor was the best-placed Aussie in 16th place in the GC contest.
Here are some visual highlights from our mate Sirotti and the A.S.O. official shots.
