RADL GRVL, the popular gravel cycling event based in South Australia, has announced it will “hit pause” for 2027, in what would have been the event’s fourth edition.
The annual gravel event, founded by the creators of SBT GRVL alongside Australian Gravel National Champion Tiffany Cromwell and her partner Valtteri Bottas, catered to professional, elite, and amateur cyclists alike, with riders in 2026 tackling distances of 34km, 65km and 127km in backcountry roads around Adelaide and regional SA.
On the RADL GRVL Facebook page, event organisers announced they had made the “difficult decision” to not host the event in 2027.
The decision to pause the event in 2027 comes after RADL’s profile on the domestic gravel scene had continued to grow.
In its most recent edition in January, the event hosted the official Oceania Gravel Championships, with French cycling star Romain Bardet and Tasmania’s Nicole Frain claiming victory in the elite races.
New Zealand’s Cameron Jones, a runner-up, joined Frain in being crowned Oceania champion.
The announcement also comes as gravel cycling continues to surge in popularity domestically, with the UCI Gravel World Championships — the first edition to be held outside Europe — set to take place in Nannup, WA this October.
Here’s hoping the event will be back for 2028.
