I used to use melted wax on my chains back in the early 70’s, my results were not astounding, I got about 4,000 to 5,000 miles on a chain, and I had to rewax it about every 300 miles. Then my racing club found out that if we blended Slick 50 into the wax the chains would last longer, nope, results were about the same. Then the first spray on lube for bike chains came out called TriFlow, so I tried that against my team leader’s advice, and my chain life about doubled! Unless wax has changed a lot over the years, I’m not going to use it. Since then, I’ve found better lubes than TriFlow.
