When it comes to mounting your phone on the bike, options range from cheap and flimsy through to top-end, meticulously engineered systems. Over the past few weeks, I’ve tested a trio of SP Connect products – the Phone Case (Apple), Universal Bike Mount, and Bike Computer Adapter (Garmin). Together, they create a flexible setup that gives you two choices: a universal mount that attaches to the bar or stem, and an adapter that converts an existing Garmin mount to hold your phone.
Phone case

The SP Connect phone case is slim, lightweight, and feels great in the hand. It features SP’s Twist-to-Lock mechanism, which is integrated flush into the back of the case. Mounting to any SP accessory requires only a 90-degree turn.
The Apple case variant I tested includes MagSafe compatibility, which means I can continue to use all my non-SP accessories, such as wireless chargers and car mounts.
Where it falls a little short is on premium feel. Compared to higher-priced competitor systems like Peak Design or Quad Lock, SP’s case doesn’t feel quite as rugged or refined. That said, it never felt insecure on the bike.
Universal bike mount

The Universal bike mount is a versatile, compact unit that attaches neatly to the handlebars or stem. It ships with two different strap lengths to suit various bar diameters, and once installed, it’s easy to switch between portrait and landscape orientation.
The mount is impressively discreet, blending into the bike without looking bulky or intrusive. It kept my phone stable even over rougher roads and the occasional pothole. The mounting process is straightforward, and once locked in, it stays in place.
Bike computer adapter (Garmin)

The bike computer adapter is one of the clever touches in SP Connect’s lineup. This small insert allows you to mount your phone onto an existing Garmin or Wahoo mount. A second insert does the reverse – letting you attach a Garmin or Wahoo to your SP Connect mount.
While an excellent feature, I’d like to see some refinement in the design. Once the phone was locked into the mount, there was noticeable play. It wasn’t enough to compromise safety, but a firmer fit would make it feel more solid.
Price vs quality

This is where SP Connect really shines. The products are noticeably cheaper than those from Peak Design and Quad Lock, yet they cover all the key functions: secure mounting, accessory compatibility, and multi-device use.
The trade-off is in the finish and feel. Higher-end competitors use tougher materials and offer a more confidence-inspiring lock, particularly for rough conditions like gravel or MTB riding. SP Connect feels lighter and less rugged, but that’s reflected in the lower price.
For road cyclists, commuters, and recreational riders, SP Connect hits a sweet spot. The products are durable, functional, and reliable, without demanding a premium spend.
Verdict
Overall, I’ve enjoyed using the SP Connect system. The phone case, universal bike mount, and bike computer adapter work well together, offering a simple, versatile way to mount your phone and bike computer.
While they don’t quite match other brands in terms of refinement, they deliver strong performance at an accessible price point. SP Connect is well worth considering if you’re looking for a solid, functional mounting system that does exactly what it promises.
It may not be the most premium option on the market, but it offers excellent value for money – and for many riders, that’s exactly what matters.
