For the second year in a row Lance Armstrong will be in attendance at the Aspen Gran Fondo on June 11.
Held in Aspen, Colorado the 80.5Km (50 Mile) ride travels through Snowmass Village, Woody Creek and Old Snowmass and features over 1400 meters of vertical ascent.
Despite Armstrong’s checkered past the organisers have no qualms about having him lead the informal peloton.
“The participants seem to enjoy the camaraderie and the high energy of the ride — and riding with Lance,” said Nancy Lesley, the city’s director of special events and marketing.
“Armstrong, who rode last year with friends, is not paid for his role”, she said.
