Georgia Baker joins Canyon-SRAM for next two seasons

Australian road and track star Georgia Baker will join Canyon-SRAM for the next two seasons, bringing a mix of sprinting speed, experience and versatility to the WorldTour team.

Baker turned professional on the road in 2015 and spent six of her seven seasons with Australian outfit Liv AlUla Jayco. She has also enjoyed a highly successful track career, including three Olympic appearances and five Commonwealth Games gold medals.

Her most recent Commonwealth title came in Glasgow in August, making Baker just the third Australian cyclist to win five Commonwealth golds.

Canyon-SRAM Performance Director Dan Fleeman says Baker’s versatility was a major attraction.

“Georgia brings a very valuable combination of speed, power, versatility and tactical know-how,” Fleeman said. “She has the physical qualities of a sprinter but is also capable of performing in the harder and more technical races.”

The 2022 Commonwealth Games road race champion will also be expected to contribute in lead-out and positioning duties, while having opportunities of her own when races suit.

For Baker, the move represents a chance for a fresh start.

“I think I’m most excited by the opportunity for a fresh start and a new challenge,” she said. Canyon-SRAM is a team that I’ve always respected from the outside, and I’m really looking forward to learning from a new group of people and hopefully bringing my own experience to the team as well.”

Baker has continued to produce strong road results in recent seasons, including podium finishes at the 2026 Giro d’Italia Women and Vuelta a Burgos, while she won a stage at the 2025 Tour of Chongming Island.

She also finished second in the recent Tour de Gatineau in Canada, beaten in the sprint by her future teammate Steffi Häberlin.

At 31, Baker says her motivation has evolved, but the desire to race and win remains.

“I still love racing my bike and I still feel like there’s more that I want to achieve,” she said. “Of course, I still want to win and get the best out of myself, but I also really enjoy being part of a team, helping other riders succeed, and continuing to challenge myself in different ways.”
