Great start for ProVelo Super League with SA Kick It

The inaugural ProVelo Super League (PSL) event, SA Kick It, ran in conjunction with the Tour Down Under (TDU) last week. And while it passed the notice of many cycling fans who were in Adelaide for TDU, it was well supported by domestic teams, individual riders and the broader cycling community. Bicycling Australia enjoyed the trackside experience for Stage 2 at Victoria Park.

After three days of intense racing, Talia Appleton of Praties Cycling Team and Brendon Davids of Team Brennan claimed the SA Kick It leaders’ jerseys in the SBS Women’s League and SumUp Men’s League, respectively.

In the Men’s League, Team Brennan controlled the race to set up Blake Agnoletto for a sprint victory over Graeme Frislie (CCACHE BODYWRAP) and propelled Jack Ward into the GC lead.

The SBS Women’s League Stage 3 saw a tightly controlled race culminating in a sprint showdown, where Odette Lynch (Butterfields Ziptrak) edged out Sophie Marr (Praties Racing Team) for the win, while Talia Appleton retained her GC lead ahead of Katelyn Nicholson, securing four Praties riders in the top five overall.

The SumUp Men’s League, Team Brennan dominated the windswept race, with Brendon Davids and Tynan Shannon (Royal Bikes) breaking away before Davids outsprinted Shannon for both the stage win and overall GC victory, while Jack Ward took third, the U23 classification, and valuable points towards the Jayco AlUla stagiaire contract.

The next round of the ProVelo Super League is the Melbourne to Warrnambool Cycling Festival on 8 and 9 February.
