New Cycling team launched to compete in inaugural ProVelo Super League

Team Brennan, a new Australian cycling team, is set to compete in the inaugural ProVelo Super League, Australia’s premier domestic road cycling series, which kicks off tomorrow in Adelaide. The team, featuring a mix of established talent and up-and-coming juniors, will represent the next generation of Australian cyclists in the highly anticipated 2025 season.

Founded by Tim Decker, the National Track Endurance Coach who recently guided the Australian Team Pursuit squad to a Gold Medal at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, the team will feature a roster of skilled riders. The athletes will compete as Team Brennan, and race on Cervelo S5 bikes.

Dave Stevens, Managing Director of major sponsor Brennan, shared his enthusiasm for the team’s debut. Dave, a former competitive cyclist and racer at a World Masters level, brings not only financial support through Brennan but also a love of cycle racing.

“We are proud to support this incredibly talented group of riders as they compete in the Pro Velo Cycling League. At Brennan, we value innovation, teamwork, and performance, and we’re excited to see the team bring these values to the road in such a prestigious series. I’m thrilled we can support the kind of opportunities I wish I’d had as a young rider back in the day.”

Tim Decker, Team Founder, commented on the team’s formation, “Team Brennan is dedicated to creating opportunities for young cyclists to grow and advance in their careers, from U19 to U23 and Elite levels. The team fosters a positive environment where riders can learn from more experienced athletes, with the goal of progressing to national or professional teams.

“With a focus on developing talent for the Olympics in 2032, the team serves as a springboard for young riders and offers valuable learning experiences for all involved, including guest directors. The team is committed to helping athletes reach their full potential.”

The team will race on Cervelo S5 bikes. Graeme Moffett from Cervelo said, “Cervelo is excited to support this team as they enter the Pro Velo Cycling League. Cervelo believes in supporting riders at all levels of the sport, and that is especially important to support local racing and the next generation of potential world tour riders.”

The team is gearing up for its highly anticipated debut in Round 1 of the Pro Velo League tomorrow (18 January), but its riders have already turned heads with outstanding performances at the recent Aus Cycling Road Nationals in Perth.

Julian Baudry delivered a sensational performance, stunning the Under-23 men’s field to claim the national title in his first-ever attempt. At just 18 years old, this achievement marks him as one of Australia’s young talents.
