Paint My Bike: A Behind the Scenes Look at Australia’s Leading Bike Repairer

If you’ve seen a custom painted bicycle on instagram or in your local bunch then chances are it’s the work of Paint My Bike

Paint My Bike was the culmination of Gary McDonald’s extensive automotive smash repair experience and passion for bikes. Having repaired his own bikes for some time Gary initially resisted requests to repaint his friends bikes. Once Gary realised he enjoyed working on bikes more than cars he decided to create Paint My Bike.

Bicycling Australia recently spent a couple of days with Gary and his team to create a three part video series on the exceptional work they do. In Episode 1 Gary takes us on a tour of his amazing workshop.

Paint My Bike can repair almost any crack, split or broken carbon frame. They also offer solutions to just about any problem you could have with your frame including Di2 frame conversions, rivnut replacements and replacement stainless steel drop out inserts. We’ll be showing you what Paint My Bike can do with carbon fibre in Episode 2.

Fully customised repaints are what Paint My Bike is best known for. Paint My Bike’s designer Heath Cleary can guide you through the design process and make any idea come to life. In Episode 3 we’ll look at the whole custom painting process from concept to finished product.

Check back next week for Episode 1. In the mean time you can take a sneak peak at Gary’s workshop in the image gallery.

Thanks to Gary and his staff for sharing their expertise with us. For more information on Paint My Bike visit paintmybike.com.au or call 07 3216 6499
