Just days after the success of the 2017 Santos Tour Down Under cycling fans are in for a treat with the Race Melbourne men’s & women’s criterium events on Australia Day.
Melbourne’s world-famous Grand Prix circuit will be the place to be with the women’s event starting at 9:30am followed by the men from 12:30pm. Three-time Tour de France champion Chris Froome leads a big-name line up with the following men’s teams racing –

An extension of the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race, the Towards Zero Race Melbourne will be held on the fan-friendly 5.3km Albert Park circuit. Women will cover 12 laps and the men 22 laps.
With the Transport Accident Commission a major sponsor, organisation Chief Executive Officer, Joe Calafiore, said Towards Zero Race Melbourne was about “riding towards a future where every journey is safe.”
“As cyclists, motorcyclists, pedestrians and motorists we all have a shared responsibility to use our road system safely and with respect for each other. This race will shine a light on our vision for a future free of deaths and serious injuries on our roads,” he said.

Elite Women’s Race – 12 laps of the 5.3km circuit (total 63.6km)
9:30am start, 11.20am presentations.
Elite Men’s Race – 22 laps of the 5.3km circuit (total 116.6km)
12:30pm start, 3.15pm presentations.
