US brand Cervélo has launched an all-new Áspero 5 gravel race bike, claiming it is the most aerodynamic gravel bike ever created.
“Cervélo has long been synonymous with aerodynamic performance, and we’ve brought that 30 years of expertise to gravel racing,” said the company.
The new bike is reportedly 37 Watts faster than the outgoing model, and 34 Watts faster than its nearest competitor. The aero handlebar and stem are responsible for nearly six Watts of that savings.
The new Áspero-5 is 66 grams lighter than its predecessor, despite adding a significant amount of surface area to improve aerodynamic performance.
With clearance for 45mm tyres, downtube storage, and a threaded bottom bracket, Áspero-5 is ready to roll. The Áspero-5 made a rainbow-jersey debut when UCI Gravel World Champion Marianne Vos previewed it (pictured below).

The Áspero-5 has launched with two complete models – SRAM Red ($17,500) and SRAM Force ($12,900), and a frameset ($7,900).
Bicycling Australia’s gravel biking expert Luke Meers has taken delivery of a test bike (pictured below) and the full review will appear in the next issue of the mag. Stay tuned.
