2025 UCI Road World Championship routes

The routes have been unveiled for next year’s Road World Championships to be held for the first time in Africa in Rwanda from 21 to 28 September 2025.

With 5,475 metres of elevation for the men’s elite road race over a 267.5 km course, it’s going to suit riders who enjoy hill climbing. Rwanda’s capital Kigali will play host and the altitude of 1,850 metres will add to the difficulty factor.

The women’s race will cover a distance of 164.6 km and an elevation of 3,350 metres. Both the men’s and women’s races will be held on a 15.1 km circuit which includes two short climbs and continuous rolling hills. The women will race 11 laps of the Kigali circuit, while the men will complete 15 laps. It will also be the first time that a separate under-23 women’s road race has been held.

For the individual time trials, the elite men will cover 680 metres of altitude during their 40.6 km race, while the elite women will climb 460 metres in just over 31.2 km.
