Australia’s road racing community is being urged to help shape the future of the sport, with the AusCycling Road Taskforce launching a nationwide survey aimed at identifying the biggest challenges and opportunities facing the discipline.
The survey marks the next major phase of consultation for the Taskforce, which was established in February to examine the state of road racing across the country and explore ways to build a more sustainable future for the sport.
The Taskforce’s launch comes at a time where participation in local racing is reportedly declining, club events are being dropped, and organisers are facing rising costs and logistical challenges when running races on public roads.
Since its launch, the Taskforce says it has engaged with more than 70 stakeholder groups and individuals through interviews, forums and direct discussions involving clubs, riders, officials, race promoters and event delivery organisations.
According to AusCycling, the response so far has been “strong and constructive”, with stakeholders across the community showing a willingness to contribute ideas and support reform efforts.
The newly launched survey is now open to riders, volunteers, organisers, officials and clubs nationwide, with the Taskforce encouraging anyone connected to Australian road racing to take part.
Feedback gathered through the survey will help identify the major barriers facing road racing, prioritise reform opportunities, guide future investment and support models, and shape sustainable race formats and development pathways.
The survey is open until Sunday, May 24. You can complete it here.
