Cold, wet, muddy and miserable … but totally memorable. That’s one way to sum up the inaugural Mudgee Classic gravel event, the ‘Dirty Mudgee’ held on Saturday April 29.
Ridden over a 55km course, 300 enthusiastic riders lined up for the gruelling gravel event. Leading the pack was Mark Renshaw, the retired WorldTour professional and one of the sport’s most revered leadout riders.
“Mudgee is a home away from home, “Renshaw said. “My wife’s from Mudgee and it’s good to be back. Today I’m looking forward to getting dirty out there and going full gas for a bit. I’ve bought over a teammate from Bathurst we’re here to ride the gravel and ride hard. It’s my first time riding on of the Classics and I’m really looking forward to it.”
