This Year’s Bowral Classic Delayed Until December

The 2021 Bowral Classic has been delayed until December due to the ongoing COVID situation in New South Wales. This year’s event - the 5th Bowral Classic - is set to feature a gravel ride and criterium along with the various Gran Fondo offerings.

The fifth edition of the much-loved Bowral Classic has been postponed from 16-17 October 2021, with organisers remaining positive, hopeful and focussed on delivering the major cycling event on December 11 & 12 this year.

The event has been postponed due to the evolving COVID outbreak and lockdown restrictions affecting NSW. Organisers have followed the advice of NSW Health and the Australian Government and feel it is only fair to their loyal rider community to act decisively and offer as much notice of the date change as possible.

The decision to postpone the annual event to December has not been made lightly, with organisers considering the National Cabinet’s National Plan to Transition Australia’s National COVID-19 Response.

Classics Founder, James Yaffa, said while we are devasted to postpone the event for the second year, we are determined to bring back the Bowral Classic to the Southern Highlands in December this year.

“We understand this date change can prove challenging for our riders and partners, however we are doing our very best to make the 2021 Bowral Classic a reality and their ongoing support throughout these volatile times means a lot,” he said.

Riders who had registered for the 2021 event will automatically be transferred to the new event weekend of 11-12 December 2021. If they are unable to make the new date, an option for deferral to Bowral Classic 2022 or refund will be offered.
