Top Gear: American Classic Argent Tubeless and TCX ‘Cross Wheels

Tubeless road wheels are gradually gaining traction in the road market and American Classic have just released a new line. The Argent wheels are an aluminium rim that is 22mm wide and 30mm deep. The front wheel is an 18 hole radial while the rear is 24 hole. Both wheels have AC bladed spokes and alloy nipples and include A/C tubeless valves and rim tape. Available to suit Shimano/SRAM in 8, 9 and 10-speed they weigh 1,372g per pair.

The TCX tubeless wheels are designed for cyclocross, but as disc brakes find their way onto road bikes they could be used there too. Available in both disc and rim-brake versions, they are 21mm deep and 26mm wide. Both front and rear wheels are 32 hole and laced in a three-cross pattern for strength. A pair of the TCX wheels weighs 1,895g for the disc version and 1,838 for the rim brake.
