Road Nationals set to roll back into Perth in 2027

Perth will once again host Australia’s biggest road cycling event, with AusCycling confirming the 2027 Westbridge Funds Road National Championships will be held from January 6–10.

The five-day championship festival will mark the third consecutive year the event has been staged in Western Australia, with the nation’s best road cyclists and Para-cyclists set to battle for the coveted green-and-gold jerseys in the time trial, criterium and road race disciplines.

Westbridge Funds Management will also return as naming rights sponsor for a second year.

The championships will begin with two days of time trials at the Perth High Performance Centre on January 6 and 7, before shifting into the city for the fast-paced criteriums in Northbridge on January 8. Racing will culminate with the traditional road races and Gran Fondo across Kings Park and Perth CBD on January 9 and 10.

AusCycling CEO Marne Fechner said Perth had proven an outstanding host for the championships.

“Westbridge Funds RoadNats is a five-day festival of cycling, showcasing the very best riders in Australia against the beautiful backdrop of Perth and the iconic Kings Park,” Fechner said.

Western Australia’s Tourism Minister Reece Whitby said securing the championships for a third straight year reinforced the state’s reputation for hosting major sporting events and would provide a valuable boost to tourism and local businesses.

The 2027 edition will also carry extra significance for Western Australian cycling fans, with hometown favourite and multiple-time national champion Luke Durbridge expected to make his final professional appearance at the event before retirement.
