Top Gear: Ridley X-Bow and X-Fire Cross Bikes

With cyclocross becoming the new black, where better to source a cross bike than Belgium, home of Ridley bikes? The X-Bow (pronounced Cross Bow) is Ridley’s budget model. Made from 7005 aluminium, it sports mudguard eyelets and rear rack mounts, and is available in either Shimano Sora or 105 incarnations. Its cross geometry is comfortable on and off road and has a wide range of sizes from 41-60cm. It is also compatible with disc- (IS) and cantilever brakes.

The X-Fire (Cross Fire) is for those riders ready to take their ‘cross to a new level. Made from 24-ton HM carbon fibre, the Cross Bow comes with mechanical Ultegra but is also compatible with electronic shifting. It also has a tapered head tube and fork crown for superior control and stiffness as well as a proportionally sized down tube for an easy grip on the frame. The press fit BB30 bottom bracket reduces Q-factor and weight whilst increasing stiffness and the cables are internally routed.

Prices: X-Bow $1,999 (TBC), X-Fire $2,999
