Friedrichshafen, Germany: Eurobike is the world’s biggest annual showcase of all things new in the cycling world, the show opening its doors to trade visitors on Wednesday, 4 September.
Key global themes of the year ahead were clear a short time after walking the halls of the extensive trade show – gravel, indoor training and e-road.
Refinements and constant advancements in the road market were also apparent, with numerous major industry players including Bianchi, Fizik, Basso, Pirelli, Wilier, Vision, Schwalbe and FSA showcasing major new releases.
Indoor Trainers
Virtual training giant Zwift continue to lead the way so far as indoor training is concerned, their impressive display and curved, panoramic, expansive screen at the Zwift stand a clear sign of the boom in indoor training and company’s faith in the future of the platform. With 5 of the 7 trainers at the Zwift stand being bike-based trainers such as the Wattbike Atom and new Wahoo Kickr Bike, this is also seen as a clear sign that more substantial (albeit more expensive and less portable) fixed-style indoor trainers are seen as the future.
New Volt From Jet Black
Portable and wireless smart trainers are also on display and will always be an important segment of the market – JetBlack’s new completely self-powered ‘Volt’ caught our eye, as did the company’s new laptop stand and turntable style front wheel support.
E-Road – More Power, Less Weight
Ebikemotion are on display in conjunction with Italian road bike specialists Wilier Triestina who are shocasing the new Cento 10 Hybrid e-road that weighs just 10.2 kg – light enough to even make you forget that it is an e-bike.
Road & E-MTB – Bianchi Lead The Way
Not road but completely eye-catching and a glimpse of things to come? Bianchi unveiled their SUV MTB platform, a futuristic bike that incorporates front and rear lights, a powerful motor and other technologically advanced features. Bianchi also lifted the lid on their ‘Sprint’ road bike, along with the all-new Infinito XE endurance model.
