La Vuelta: Trentin Picks Up Win Number Three As Chaves Slips In Overall Ranking

Already twice a stage winner at La Vuelta 2017, Matteo Trentin (Quick-Step Floors) enjoyed his third stage victory in Tomares on Friday.

The Italian rider, who has signed with Aussie outfit Orica-Scott for 2018, dominated Gianni Moscon (Team Sky) and Soren Kragh Andersen (Team Sunweb) at the end of stage 13.

He brings his Belgian team a fifth victory at La Vuelta 2017, the same record they achieved at the Giro d’Italia and the Tour de France this season. Chris Froome (Team Sky) avoided any slip-up to make sure he’ll still wear the red jersey as the race heads into the mountains this weekend, with Vincenzo Nibali (Bahrain – Merida) 59 seconds behind and Esteban Chaves (Orica-Scott) third overall 02’13” behind Froome.

La Vuelta Continues today with a 175km stage from Écija to Sierra de La Pandera including a challenging final climb and brutal mountain finish.
