The MS Criterium was held in Wollongong this year with a massive turn out to compete and spectate after the ever-popular MS Sydney to Gong ride on Sunday.
With all divisions in the crit having over 30 entrants, every dollar raised was donated to the MS foundation that supports people living with Multiple Sclerosis, the most common neurological condition in young adults.
Kyle Ward from Wollongong lead out the Elite men’s division 1 for half the race, dominating over the likes of Scott Law and Mark Renshaw who were amongst the pack.
An early surge from Ward left the two other riders who were in the break away miles behind, at one stage Ward’s efforts had him close to 30 seconds in front of the bunch.
Once the group of riders caught Ward back the shuffle began for the last leg of the race.
With less than 10 laps to go another break away formed which stayed away from the bunch until the end.
Harrison Bailey (GPM) out sprinted the break to take line honors with Ayden Toovey second, Daniel O’Keefe third and Kyle Ward in fourth.
The Sydney to Gong ride attracted over 9,000 riders this year and donations are still being tallied but the weather was perfect for the event, with a North Easterly tail wind helping the riders head south.
