Neil Van Der Ploeg of Avanti Racing Team took the out the individual time trial event on stage 2 at the Tour of China I on Friday last week.
With a winning time of 3:40 over the super short 3.1km course he averaged 50.7km/h to beat Russian Boris Shpilevsky of RTS – Santic by two seconds, also knocking him down the General Classification leader board and putting Van Der Ploeg in first place overall.
The next best placed overall Australian is Van Der Ploeg’s team mate Scott Law in 10th place, putting Avanti Racing Team in first place on the Team Classification list too.
The six stage race will continue this week, with one rest day between the Tour of China I and the next six Tour of China II stages.
