In Australia we have magpies, small black and white birds that are relatively harmless but menacing and territorial.
There are not many things more frightening than being swooped by a magpie even whilst riding, except being chased down by a giant ostrich as a couple of friends found out after their riding holiday in South Africa.
If given an option between the two I’m sure we would all choose a magpie attack anyday.
