Continental Launch Seven-Layer TPU Inner Tubes

Continental have announced ContiTPU, lightweight and durable thermoplastic polyurethane inner tubes suitable for road, gravel and off-road riders.

Conti say they have used the highest grade of micrometer-thick TPU across seven sealed layers to maximise airtightness, durability and performance.

“The tubes are uncoloured to further ensure the highest material quality and prevent air retention issues caused by dye-related surface imperfections,” said Hannah Ferle of Continental. “And every ContiTPU tube is quality-checked post-production.”

The base of the valve shaft is slightly conical in shape to improve fit to the wheel rim and reduce movement, while the valve is internally threaded to allow for the use of valve extensions or a replacement valve core.

“I think that the TPU tube is great for every cyclist,” continue Hannah. “Whether it is someone focusing on performance and seeking to reduce weight and lower rolling resistance, or someone who simply wants to have the space to load their jersey pockets full of snacks for a long day on the bike, much like myself.”
