Technogym Launch Indoor ‘Skillbike’

Indoor trainer equipment firm Technogym have released a new exercise bike that promises to allow cyclists to ‘live the emotion and challenge of outdoor experiences in an indoor environment’.

The Skillbike has a number of features that may appeal to riders looking for an alternative to putting their road bike on a smart trainer.

First and foremost the Skillbike is the world’s only stationary bike to feature real gear shifting, displayed on the seven-inch colour LCD control console in real time. It also reproduces the biomechanics of outdoor bikes, allowing you to match your ‘real world’ riding position.

The Skillbike offers two different training modes – power-based training routines and hill climbing simulations, with a wide range of available training programs, targeted routines and routes. The Skillbike is also integrated with Strava, Garmin and Zwift.

The control console provides all relevant performance data, with real-time feedback on cadence, watts, speed, distance, gradient, heart rate, selected gear and gear ratio. It also offers feedback on pedalling circularity and symmetry of at different gear ratios.
