It’s one of the most critical performance metrics of them all but for many of us it’s left to guess work – yes we’re talking hydration.
Up until now wearable bands have offered all manner of data including heart rate, calories, sleep, steps, activity alarms etc. The new LVL wrist band adds all-important hydration to the equation. According to its developers it will offer real-time hydration alerts – telling precisely how much fluid you need and the performance boost you can expect to get.
Listed on the Kickstarter fundraising platform by BSX Athletics, a company that successfully launched the Insight lactate threshold monitor, backers have already pledged well over ten times the $50,000 pre-production goal.
Demand appears to be incredibly strong with close to 4000 people pre-ordering the band that is expected to ship by mid 2017.
The 50gram device will synch with Apple and Android apps and real-time data can also be viewed on compatible bike computers via Bluetooth. The LVL will feature a 4-day battery life, be waterproof to IP7 standards, and is expected to retail for around $200.
