Moving the deckchairs

It’s always fun at this time of year to hear about the movers and shakers of the men’s and women’s pro peloton. The deck chairs are shuffled and there are always winners and losers.

Here are a few highlights of the biggest Aussie riders’ moves for 2025.

Ben O’Connor – The Decathlon AG2R La Mondial rider has had a cracker season and I’m sure his team management is very happy, but from 2024 he will join Aussie team Jayco AlUla. Fellow GC contender Simon Yates will leave the team at the end of the year to join Visma Lease-a-bike.

Callum Scotson – Scotson will do the reverse of Ben O’Connor and move from Jayco AlUla to Decathlon AG2R La Mondial.

Grace Brown – Brown retires at the end of 2024 and has raced her final road race for her team FDJ-Suez. She’s had an amazing last year winning the Gold medal in the ITT at both the Paris Olympics and the UCI Road World Championships in Zurich, as well as several other victories.

Brodie Chapman – After two years at Lidl-Trek, Chapman will move from the American outfit to UAE Team ADQ in 2025. She will be joined by her teammate Italian Elisa Longo Borghini who also moves to UAE Team ADQ, after six years with Lidl-Trek.

Alex Manly – In a surprise move, Manly will join AG Insurance-Soudal after eight years with Liv-AlUla-Jayco.

Sarah Roy – Veteran rider Roy joins EF-Oatly-Cannondale to bolster their classics squad. She’s been with Cofidis for just one season.

Josie Talbot – Talbot moves from French team Cofidis where she’s raced for two years to Liv-AlUla-Jayco.
