Shimano Australia have announced full details of a proposed local inspection program after a number of pre-2019 Ultegra and Dura Ace cranks failed under pressure.
The Shimano Australia statement reads:
‘SHIMANO Australia is issuing a voluntary inspect and replace program of select bonded 11‐speed HOLLOWTECH II road cranksets (produced before July 2019) for a possible bonding separation issue.
This will be implemented through an “Inspect and Replace” program in partnership with authorised Shimano Cycling dealers.
Not all Ultegra and Dura‐Ace cranks need to be inspected. Only cranks produced before July 2019 need to be inspected and we are providing information directly to consumers that allows them to both identify if their cranks are part of the program, and to inspect cranks themselves.
We believe with the resources and tools we are providing we will be able to implement this Inspect and Replace program quickly and efficiently. Our number one priority is consumer safety and your relationship with the consumer is critical to reach as many consumers as possible.

What about crank that broke a year ago? Would Shimano replace if I return broken bits of the crank? LOL
