As debate continues to rage over the use and safety of disc brakes in the pro peloton, we tried this simple test.
Using a disc-equipped bike, we got the wheel spinning fast before pushing a bike shoe hard against the blade of the disc until it slowed to a stop. Then we pushed down hard on the disc with a bare thumb. Take a look at our video to see the results.
