As the sun shone down on the undulating course riders competed against the clock for the best time on the 13.5km course.
The meandering rises threw a curve ball and three sharp corners meant riders had to show some bike handling skills on the course.
Sean Lake (AWS) made the best time in the Elite Men’s A Grade with a scorching 16:53.87, closely behind was Brendan Canty with a time of 17:01.70 and Alexander Morgan (VIS) with 17:19.09.
Elite Men’s B grade was taken out by Tomarsh Loki (17:59.66), David Ross with 18:29.03 and Paul Jones breathing down his neck with 18:29.07.
The Women’s A Grade Winner was Kate Perry (SPS) with 19:49.14, second was Louisa Lobigs (HWC) 19:51.84, third with a time of 19:59.52 was Anna Davis.
Tomorrow’s course will put all the cyclists through their paces as the race heads upward toward the summit of Tawonga Gap at Mount Beauty for a 91km hit out.
